With its classic soft sand and wide shoreline, Town Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It has nice surf for boogie boarders, body surfers, and beginning longboarders.
Its proximity to town also makes it especially convenient.
Beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards are available to rent, and there is a beach grill for lunch.
Recently voted one of the best beaches in New England, Mohegan Bluffs is a scenic location on the southern shore, known for dramatic clay cliffs rising 150–200 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.
Some people say the beach at the base of the Bluffs is the most beautiful on the island, offering a secluded, rocky place to swim and surf. Reaching it requires descending 141 steps, but the payoff is spectacular: dramatic Atlantic views that can extend to Montauk at the tip of Long Island.
The Block Island Maritime Institute is an ideal setting for daytime field trips.

Programs are available during the summer.
